Isabella Rosenthal

Isabella Rosenthal is an actual senior who has belonged in E.I.S. since nursery. Besides of being an outstanding student, she participates in any extracurricular activity she can and forms part of different clubs. In the middle of the 9th grade she had to go to live to Tegucigalpa due to her father’s job in the Honduran government. But this event didn’t stop Isabella from being part of a school’s organizations. In Tegucigalpa she studied at the American School of Tegucigalpa and was part of Operation Smile, Charity Club and Hope Club. Isabella has a great concern over the necessities of poor people so she decided to form part of these clubs to learn more about their problems and offer possible solutions. In 10th grade she continued forming of the hope and charity club and joined a new organization, HACIA democracy. While forming part of HACIA she had the chance to travel to Guatemala along with other students to a world-wide conference. Due to her admirable character and commitment, Isabella was also elected as vice president of her class. Isabella returned to E.I.S in 11th grade and kept on with her excellent academic performance and helping spirit. She joined the school’s charity club where she could do the thing she mostly likes, provide help to those who need it. As a senior she became the STUCO historian, which she believes is a completely different experience than what she used to do but is really enjoying it. As a historian she has to keep record of everything that goes on in STUCO. Isabella is a person who always loves to be active and is full of aspirations. Valeria Chahin, one of Isabella’s best friends, expressed, “I have never known a person so devoted to what they do, Isabella has a unique personality who reaches her goals anytime she proposes one.” Isabella is a charming girl. She loves the beach and traveling around the world. She is also willing to take any adventure that is presented to her. Isabella is a very kind and fun girl who likes to take advantage of all the opportunities presented to her.

Alejandro Lopez

His name is Alejando Lopez. He has been at EIS since kinder garden and he represents a little piece of the school’s history. He is 17 years old, soon to be 18. Although he is involved many extracurricular activities, he still has time to share with his friends and not only that but can still manage time to be a good student. He helped start organizations like SFO, (Student Fundraiser Organization), JLH, (Jovenes Lideres Hondurenos) and of course STUCO. He ran for 12th grade president and is an active leader in Social Work. Alejandro is a very mature and responsible student who will most likely became one the leaders of this country. His dedication and hard work has made him a complete leader. “If you are not first, then you are last”, Lopez said referring to what a competition towards becoming a stand-out student should be.

Eva Hernandez

There are many awesome students at EIS, but the one I admire the most and I think she is amazing is Eva Hernandez. Eva is amazing because she is a great person; she is a great student and let’s not forget that she is a great friend. Eva is in various school activities such as: MUN and NHS. These are high prestige activities in the school, especially NHS. I don’t know how Eva manages to maintain such excellent grades. I don’t know how does she manage to do all the homework, I mean that I am not in any activity and my grades are not as high as Eva’s. Eva has been in MUN for two year now and in NHS for one year, she has attended EIS since day zero, since we were 4 years old. Eva is part of the MUN traveling team meaning that she is a delegate. I asked Maria Fernanda why she thinks that Eva is an amazing student and she responded: “because she´s dedicated in his studies and puts forth effort in everything she does”. I really admire Eva, she is one of my best friends, and she is one of the best students in school. Eva is a perfect example of a great person and student.

Roger Larach

Roger Eduardo Larach Faraj was born on June 13th, 1991 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. His father’s name is Roger Larach, a brilliant businessman. His mother’s name is Diana Faraj, a hard working, and successful businesswomen. Roger’s mother and father are two responsible, successful, and hardworking entrepreneurs; that is the least that you can expect from Roger. Since Roger was just a baby he had a great future. Everyone who saw him knew this baby would be a leader when he grew up. Roger parents raised him with love and taught him every morals values they knew. When he was just a kid, Roger showed aptitude for the piano and for soccer. Since little you could see how Roger was a natural leader and not another follower.
Roger has been a student at EIS all his life. Since he was 4 years old until today. By the end of the six grade Roger graduated top from his class, he graduated with honors. He then stars the seventh grade and keeps his excellent grades. During that year he began his soccer career. Being in seventh grade his team won the ABSH Championship. He continued to play throughout the eight grade. As Roger grew older he became more responsible, more dedicated, more of a hard worker and an excellent soccer player. In the ninth grade Roger decided he wanted to become a leader at EIS. He ran for the 9th grade president and won. That year he did an excellent job as the freshman president. He continued to play soccer and also won an award in the ABSH Music Festival. Since little Roger had been in piano classes and in the ABSH Music Festival he showed his skills to the people. He won the Superior Award. During the 10th grade Roger’s soccer career exploded. He won the AASCA Championship and made history with his team. That year he also competed in the ABSH Music Festival and won the Superior Award for his brilliant piano performance. It was until the eleventh grade were Roger became one of EIS true leaders. His excellent grades and discipline secured him a membership to the National Honor Society. He also ran as chairman of sport fro STUCO and won. This time he competed in the ABSH Math Olympics and won the Superior Award. Roger also competed in Track and Field in the 1550 meters category; he had an outstanding performance. With his soccer team Roger won the ABSH National Championship and the Matu Cup. Currently Roger as a senior is NHS vice president. Operations Manager of Student Fundraiser Organization and member of the Nauta Club. Roger is also founder and president of Jovenes Lideres Hondurenos, an organization for Honduran leaders.
Roger has demonstrated to be a true leader. “If you work hard you can achieve anything” is the advice Roger gives to all the young leaders of EIS. A great future is ahead of Roger. Many things await him in college and in his adulthood. One can expect great things if this great guy.

Andrea Garay

Since her early years Andrea Garay loved playing outside with her nursery friends, kicking a ball around a field, running, socializing, singing and laughing. Andrea started her academic studies at the Escuela International of La Lima, where she formally has lived until the date. She enjoyed the time she had with her little friends and always took care of them, no matter what happened Andrea was always there to assist them. She invited her dearest friends for bike rides, dinners, or movie watching for the plain reason to be with them and have fun. As the years passed Andrea never changed her attitude towards the others but developed into being an independent, wise girl with a lot of interested and dreams to fulfill. Andrea loved to paint and be in a variety of sports. Although many may believe that as a student it seems really tough to be in extra curricular activity when you still have tons of homework to do; for her giving up what she liked was not really an option. She instantly started to balance out her busy schedule; never forgetting homework, friends, parties or her hobbies. Her main focus has always been school and making herself and her parents proud of what she does.
Andrea happily graduated from her little school and joined the Escuela International Sampedrana where she started her high school journey. At the beginning the adaptation of the new academic systems seemed almost hard for Andrea to handle but she knew exactly how to deal with stress for these situations and instantly got used to the whole system. In a couple of days Andrea helped those of her friends who needed tutoring on the hard classes. When it came to sports she did not even think twice to join the team and even though she knew about the consequences of being in them she gave it a tried. In months or even weeks the whole school knew about the great sport talent Andrea had within her. She showed everyone that she was capable of being a great basketball, volleyball and even soccer player. Andrea keeps socializing as much as she can even for her tight schedule. She is always there when her friends need her and she always has others to rely on. The first priority she has is school; she has outstanding grades and puts all her effort in order to obtain them. Andrea dreams to join her university dream and succeed on her studies. In a couple of years a dream will be a great person with big dreams and a series of achievements. -LV

Rodrigo Canahuati

Rodrigo Canahuati, a current twelve grade student that has attended Escuela Internacional Sampedrana throughout his life. This intelligent eighteen year old student has always believed that participating in school activities is essential for succeeding in life. Rodrigo has been involved in many school activities that have helped him succeed as a student, but more important, as a human being. Among the multiple number of organizations in which he is involved in, he has become a great example for most of us. He has been a member of the National Honor Society for two years and vice president of Stucco for almost three years. Also he is the founder and president of the Student Fundraising Organization and the vice president for Jovenes lideres Hondureños for almost one year. Also he has been the vice president of Trabajo Educativo Social for two years. Rodrigo once told his friends and teachers “I first got involved in these activities due to my parents love and support, without them none of this would be possible.” What has made Rodrigo Canahuati so special has been his participation in multiple activities that has helped not only the school but the entire society. He is admired by all of his peers due his hard work, courage, honesty and responsibility as a student. Besides being involved in educational organizations, Rodrigo has also been an active member of the athletic community as part of the Varsity Volleyball team for more than three years. Rodrigo Canahuati is a great example for most of the students at Escuela Internacional Sampedrana by his participation in numerous organizations and by his academic level. Also, his leadership and honesty at school has taken him to success. Rodrigo Canahuati is not only known for his academic level or for his participation in many school activities, but also for having a charismatic personality. His personality has helped him establish a lot of friendships and good relationships among every person that he knows. Rodrigo will definitely succeed in his future plans due to his multiple experiences.

Nora Turcios

Nora Alicia Turcios Herrera is a 12th grade student that is about to finish high school, she is eighteen years old. She had been part of EIS since Nursery, when she was four years old. During her studies at EIS, she has always been at the principal’s list, which are the people that get 94% up in their report cards. Norita, as most of her friends call her, is one of the girls that always get outstanding throughout all her participation, or in any other activity outside or in school. Besides, she has a wonderful charisma, always smiling as well as being sweet with everybody. Since a little girl, her favorite sport has been soccer, so she had become part of the team. Since she had part of the institution ever since child, she is known for being an excellent athletic, student, and friend. However, her friends really like her especially because of her positivism, and cheerful personality. At the beginning of the school year, Norita felt bad and she always felt dizzy. She had a health problem and she left school for about one whole month to travel to Washington, D.C., where her hospital was located. The doctors told her that a surgery was vital. Her operation took sixteen hours, almost the entire day. The surgery was delicate, but thanks God it turned out a success! She had to drink thousands of pills and antibiotics so she can improve her health and feel better. Norita had been very strong since all the things that she had been through. She had always been positive and enthusiastic no matter what. It is really inspiring as well as surprising, in the way in which she had improve herself, always keeping moving forward in something so delicate involving her health and she being so young. Although everything she had missed in school, she can manage well her time to get good grades, all A’s! Norita even take AP’s which are the advance classes that not all students take. Her GPA is around 91.5%. Indeed, she is someone astonishing! She left three months later for three weeks, and she catched up with all homeworks, and projects quickly! She stills get A’s in all her classes! Life until now has been hard for her, but she never looks sad or mad, Norita is always happy, and spreads the joy all over her lovely friends.

Omer Cohen

The students at Escuela Internacional Sampedrana are very awesome people. Yet, there are a few of them that are just a little “awesomER.” Such is the case of Omer Cohen, age 17, who is currently a senior at this school. Omer has attended EIS for six years; he transferred from La Lima campus after completing the sixth grade. This student is awesome for many different reasons. To begin with, he is a very amiable person and an exceptional friend. He will most likely help you with anything he can at any time. I admire the way in which he can manage to combine various activities with academics and still achieve good grades. From my personal interactions with Omer, I have found him to be one of the most intelligent people I know, if you don’t believe me, ask him to show you his SAT score. Very impressive.
With every senior struggling with our physics class, Omer uses his knowledge to tutor those of us who are not that ‘physic-ally smart’. Anyway, besides from being a little genius, Omer also has musical inclinations. He loves to play the guitar which he does very well for about a year now. His biggest influences are Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bob Marley, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Guns N' Roses and Judas Priest. You might want to visit his Youtube page (http://www.youtube.com/salvadordali66) to get a glimpse of what sorta music he is into. You might recognize Omer from talent shows and pep rallies, as he is also part of the school band. After completing his high school studies, Omer plans travel to Israel, his native country and join the army (good riddance) Hopefully, everything turns out well for Omer. When asked what makes him so special he answered: “I eat more than any other person at this school.” Hmmm who would’ve guessed?
Everyone should definitely get to know Omer and the school could surely use more people like him.

Jose Morales

Jose Carlos Morlaes is a great person. He is a good friend of mine and he thinks he is a great soccer player. Jose Carlos was born in San Pedro Sul, in cemesa..Hes passion has always been soccer. Since he was 5 years old, all he asked for during his birthdays where soccer balls. All sizes and colors of soccer balls where Jose’s passion. He became such a great soccer player that his name began to sound in all the streets of San Pedro Sula. Jose Carlos got the famous nickname.. the ‘’Joshe’’.. Jose Carlos isn’t just a great soccer player. He is also a girl player. Jose Carlos is great at breaking the heart of girls. But in conclusion Jose Carlos is the perfect synonym to a great person.

Gustavo Vijil

Gustavo Vijil is a student from eleventh grade that many may consider special. Gustavo have attended our school since nursery and have made a lot of friends through the years he has pass with us. What makes Gustavo so special is not only his ability to make friends very easily but also of his school spirit. He has practice two sports which are basketball and soccer. While playing these sports he tries his best to go forward with his team and encourage them to keep giving their best to make the school look good in tournaments. “Its Gods´ will every match we play but we go out there making our best but at the same time we try to have as much fun as possible,” is one thing that Gustavo said. This shows the positive personality that he has and explains how he is able to have many friends. Gustavo started playing basketball since he was in seventh grade and started soccer in ninth grade. Many people consider him as one of the best athletes that the school has. A proof that there is for how good he is playing basketball and soccer is that he has been a MVP from seventh to eleventh grade. He has also been an MVP player in soccer and the top scorer in eleventh grade. Not only he is a good athlete but he is also very smart and is able to get good grades.

Emery Godoy

Emery Godoy, one of the most outstanding students here ate E.I.S. and also one of my best friends. I have to say I admire here because not only does she have a GPA of 94.5 she also has time for her friends, she participates in NHS, and she has a normal life style. She has a passion towards music and dancing; you can say that Emery doesn´t stress out as most of us, on school work, she is more like a laid back, relaxed person but at the same time a hard worker. Not only is she able to live her life as she pleases, instead she also provides help to others in overcoming their problems, whether they are personal or academic, she is there to help. Emery is also a person very down to earth, she act according to what the consequences of those actions will be and she expects that others due so as well.

Ana Matamoros

Ana Matamoros is in 11th grade have attended about 14 years school, she is so special because she takes AP Biology class which requires a lot of hard work because takes a lot of time to understand things. One of the important things is that in AP’s classes you need to comprehend everything and involve reading a lot, which she enjoys doing. One of the most challenging classes that I would say would be that one. She takes part in extracurricular activities is NHS and Recycling Club which are after school. She does everything she thinks is good for other people and for herself. She enjoys everything hard classes because she takes her own challenges. She took AP Biology this year because she wants to study something combining chemistry and biology; she wanted to see the topics we saw last year in normal biology and more detail this year. She knows each of the subjects very good because she tries to put a lot of attention in class, and do her own homework.. She has being taking AP Biology this whole year, and she is possibly considering taking AP Chemistry. She has learned things she never learned from last year, and have done new experiments in class which all of the AP students have learned a lot. Ana’s hobbies are reading, painting , and drawing.

Carla Bogran

Carla Bográn, an 18 year-old student at E.I.S, has always been an outstanding person since she was a little girl. She used to say she wanted to be a preschool teacher when she grew up since she has always loved little kids. Instead of playing dolls all afternoon like most girls would do, Carla practiced ballet. Her interest in ballet came when she was six years old; she went to a summer camp of the Royal Academy of Dancing of London for two weeks in Long Beach, California in the summer of her 7th grade, and not to mention that she won a prize between 50 students of all over the world. She even took tests of people who came from London, and got the highest grade in Honors possible, 10/10 for three years straight, and the next two years she got 9/10. Ballet wasn’t the only thing she practiced, she also practiced tap, jazz, african, flamenco and she danced in point shoes for 4 year. She stopped practicing ballet when she was 16 years old.
Carla has been in EILL/EIS all her life. In EILL her grade point average was of 95%, and when she entered EIS her grade point average was from 88% to 90%. Carla has always been a responsible student. At school, she played soccer, that’s how she broke her arm in 5th grade; she also played volleyball until she was in 10th grade. Carla didn’t just play sports, she was also the godmother of her brothers’ baseball team, “I found a picture few days ago, I was wearing a crown and a scarf that entitled me as the godmother, I even got flowers in my hands,” Carla said when she told me about her experience. She has been a part of in school as well as out of school activities throughout her whole life.
Carla’s favorite holidays are Christmas and Halloween. She says Christmas is one of her favorite since she gets to eat amazing food her family makes for this holiday, and for Halloween she just likes to dress-up, “Call me immature, but I still love to dress-up,” she says. Carla has been a joyful and entertaining person all her life, she refers herself as “fun-sized,” since she is 1.50 meters tall since she was in 5th grade.

Cecilia Viara

Cecilia Viara attends 12th grade in Escuela Internacional Sampedrana. She has many activities throughout the day like going to school, playing her favorite sport, soccer, and learning from her Italian origin with her Italian classes. Cecilia has been in E.I.S all her life since nursery and has been part of the school´s soccer team since she was in fifth grade, becoming one of the best soccer players in her team. Even though she has many extracurricular activities like school, homework, Italian classes and spending time with friends she can always find a little time to play some soccer. When she gets her free time you can see her practicing soccer or making sand boxes with sea shells decorations that later on she uses to store her most valuable things. A quote that motivates her throughout the day is ¨live every moment of your life¨ and she stands by it and demonstrates that she loves life and loves living it. As in for her future she plans to become a psychologist and help people throughout their problems

Joaquin Groves

A person who I consider completely amazing at this school is Joaquin Groves. He is a very active student in our school community and participates in a variety of school clubs, activities and groups, “One should have an integral balance in order to succeed in life,” he says. Joaquin plays basketball since the 9th grade and was so good at it, he was asked to not only play in the National’s Team, but he was also the youngest player of the school’s Central American team, positions that all the players, from 9th to 12th grade fight for. After this, he played in all the Nationals, all the Central American games, and even went to Mexico to represent the school in the Latin American basketball tournaments. In his career as basketball player at EIS, Joaquin and his teammates have earned numerous awards and trophies, putting the school’s reputation in the very top. Joaquin Groves is also a member of the school’s Model United Nations (MUN) team. He’s been part of this club since it was available to him in the 10th grade. He has attended several of the global MUN meetings that are held around the continent, specifically to one in Virginia and another one in Baltimore. In Virginia, his team received the “Best Delegation” award, the first trophy E.I.S. had received regarding MUN. In Baltimore, Joaquin proved himself and earned the award of “Best Position Paper”, a merit that more than 1,200 students were competing for.Even though he was born in Honduras, Joaquin has lived in many different places around the globe due to his father’s work. Some of these places include Mexico, Guatemala, Cameroon, and Costa Rica, where his ability to adjust and socialize made it easy for him to feel at home in everyone of these places. Due to his enormous amount of traveling, Joaquin has only attended E.I.S. for 5 years. He entered this school in the 8th grade and has already done as much as anyone who has been a lifetime here.

A Story About Felipe B.

The E.I.S as an international school is enormous, has a great education and is well known. So like all school it has looks of students. Therefore, not each and every one of them got to know each other.
So now I will introduce to you Felipe Bustamante Hernandez and 11th grader. A relic, because he has been in this school all his life. As you know every kid has a special trait. And in this case, Felipe’s special traits are intelligent, outgoing, perseverance, and multi tasks. He can have three tests the next day and has not study anything. He doesn’t stress out, goes out with his friends, play soccer, and all these things he does are just a day before the tests. The awesome thing here is that even though he studies a little he gets good grades on the three tests.
Oftenly, he gets to the house starts playing on the computer and like at 8:00 pm he decides to start with his homework. He spends hours on the phone and he is still able to finish his tasks. He tends to be very responsible and he is great with the numbers (math). He has the ability of understanding all the lessons that the teacher teaches that week. However, he doesn’t participate on any school activity, but we can say he is in Social work activities as all the other 11th graders and 12th graders.
The quote given by Felipe for the school and for you is “Chill, everything can be done.”
So be relaxed like him, everything will end up ok.

Daniela Ferrufino: A Multi Tasker

Daniela Ferrufino has been known around school for her abilities in soccer, but that’s not all Daniela Ferrufino has to offer. She has also been known for having the special gift of dancing tap and flamenco when school is over. Her passion for soccer began since she was around the ages of ten and twelve.
Daniela wasn’t always part of the EIS community, but at the age of nine her family decided to transfer her to EILL, because they believed that this school was going to give her better opportunities for the future. Since she entered EILL, she became a part of the soccer team. Counting back her years since she was little, Daniela has about 8 years of being part of the women soccer team.
Recently she is in twelfth grade, and is now the captain of the team. Her performance throughout the years has made her who she is now, an excellent and extraordinary person, not only in her abilities in soccer but her charisma and joyfulness with her fellow classmates. In school she is known as the girl who never stops smiling, her cheerfulness illuminates every ones day. Her soccer teammates are proud of the captain they have, since in this last tournament she scored several goals that brought the team to first place.
Besides being great in the sports department, Daniela also knows how to make some dance moves. Ever since she was a child, she has always been fascinated by the ladies who appear making dance competition. When she is not in the soccer field practicing for her next game, Daniela could be seen on stage practicing her dance moves for her next performance. Watching Daniela perform is exciting because people get to see the different moves she creates throughout her performance.
Daniela has always kept an open mind when it comes to what people can do. She believes “everyone can achieve their goals if they work hard enough.” People should always go after their goals, even though if they are many.

The City Fashion Show

Lights, music, models, everything was well set up for the Fashion Show to begin. At 7:30 pm the Escuela International Sampedrana’s Cafetorium was packed with people ready to enjoy the show. As soon as the models started to appear, the crowd felt an intense excitement deep inside. The enthusiasm of the people could be seen by the facial expressions they had. The apparel the young men wore was both casual and elegant. While the young ladies decided to have a more sophisticated look adding to their trends some headbands that brought a chick look to their outfits.
The chaos was centered backstage, where everyone was trying to look their best and practice their walk before going into the runway. They had a great advantage, since they had then opportunity to be watching the fashion show backstage. The organization that took place throughout the event was well organized. People were able to find their seats with no difficulties and the lounge seats that were used in the entrance were great for people who were waiting or just chatting around. Those lounge seats also made it easy for people who wanted to buy something to eat, since they could enjoy their food by sitting in those comfortable seats.
After the short interval, a sense of glamour came to the stage. The young men appeared with fashionable and classy tuxedos to accompany the ladies who were wearing glamorous dresses design by famous designer Giselle Matamala. All of the gowns were well elaborated and had a touch of spring, which made the dresses look vivid and colorful.
By the end of the night, everyone was satisfied with how the fashion show resulted. The lights, the music, everything was organized with style. We congratulate Social Work for developing such a great show, but a special recognition for Matilde Turcios (President) and Rodrigo Canahuati (Vice President) for working hared and making sure everything would turnout great.
