The Senior Barbecue that happens every year as a party for seniors to raise funds and pay their senior trip took place on the 18 of October, at the night club B412. From every grade in high school people attended, it is one of the most desired parties of the year, depending on the money seniors’ need there are many parties, this year I was told they needed lots of money so they are having at least three parties. The barbecue started at 8 o’clock sharp, people started arriving half an hour late, the only people early at the party were the seniors who were selling the tickets, because if a ticket wasn’t sold the senior who had it, had to pay it.
The atmosphere at the party had a very good mood, everyone was enjoying the music, seniors hired a known DJ from San Pedro Sula, and he is DJ Lulo. Electronic music was mostly played throughout the whole party and some reggaeton songs that put girls to dance all night long, and as if the dance floor wasn’t enough, they took dancing to the tops of tables. People were having a blast of fun, there were also snacks for people to grab bites if they were a little hungry, because dinner wasn’t sold here.
Even though some people didn’t show up, with the number of people that went it was surely enough, at midnight we could see people from other school arriving to the party and also some ex students from EIS trying to catch up with old friends. Lots of pictures were taken throughout the party by everyone, any person with a camera had the pleasure to catch some exciting and fun moments from the party. This kind of party makes socializing a primary thing because if you didn’t know anyone their maybe you were one of those people who were really bored and sitting down at the table doing nothing.
The senior president, Willy Perez, was the mind behind the party, he organized every single detail to make the senior party a party to remember, a party that could be talked about and that it would have good comments. The club was prepared for students, even though there was no school supervision here, the party didn’t allow anything wrong that shouldn’t be done happen. People behaved pretty decently and the school headmasters were proud to know that their students had behaved how they had expected them to do so.
The ending of the party was at about 4 o’clock in the morning of next day, the place wasn’t such a mess because people were well behaved. Some people after the party ended in B412 decided to take the party to the gas station next to the club and they decided to have their breakfast their and eat some baleadas, I was told by most people they had a great time and that they hoped that it could be repeated really soon.

The Caseta Decorations
The caseta of the Escuela Internacional Sampedrana has been pimped on this school year!
The caseta is a vital space for students and teachers because this area is where they relax and hang out during the school day. For many years, the owner and woman in charge of the caseta has been Ms. Yolanda, and now she has obtained sponsors for her caseta.
On these past years, the Pepsi Company sponsored the caseta, so it was painted with the pepsi colors, white and blue. Pepsi has been in charge of maintaining the caseta and renovating the paint several times. The caseta was not only painted, but was also propaganda for the Pepsi Company . Many of the students argued that they didn’t like how it looked, especially the seats it had.
The seats have been changed several times. There have been wooden, plastic, and now, metal seats. There have been some problems with these metal seats because some people have gotten into accidents. During December of 2008 there were some rumors that the caseta was going to change for the next year. Students thought that the caseta was going to change its food to a healthier menu, but they were surprised when they came from Christmas vacations. A new look for the high school caseta.
The contract with the Pepsi company has finished, so now Powerade is the sponsor of the caseta. Powerade decided to make a new look for the caseta. The caseta’s new look is blue and black with the name Powerade posted on a wall. So big has been the change that even the half of the tables are blue and black. Not only has the Powerade company changed the tables, but it also has given three plasma screen TV and some lights on were students buy their things. Now with the TV, students will enjoy more their time during school. There are new pictures that contain sports and some famous athletes, around the caseta line. Powerade made a 360 degree change on the caseta.
Powerade has made a comfortable place where students and teachers can enjoy their recess and lunch without having any problem.

The Campus of E.I.S.
E.I.S. is recognized as the best in Honduras. It was established in 1953. It is supposed to be run by the student’s parents. At first, the school was located on Colonia Trejo. It was a small and simple school with no more than 30 class rooms. Twenty years after, the school was moved to this beautiful campus. E.I.S was the first school to ever settle on this area, which had no surroundings except for stranded lands. It took seven years to finish the school´s building.
E.I.S. started having only two buildings. Elementary School and High School. Elementary and Preschool shared a building. All together, there were 126 class rooms. Later on, the Cafetorium was created. This is where all the huge events such as Carnivals, Concerts, Graduations, Fashion and Talent shows take place. Then the soccer field was also provided for the students, which was also used for events. Fulfilling the administrator´s expectations, more students started to full the school and they had to create a separate Preschool building. This building has its own gym, 30 class rooms from Daycare to Preparatory, caseta and playground. Three years ago, the Middle School building was built, which provides around 30 class rooms. They also have a caseta, and a soccer field.
Rumor has it that the school is the most prestigious of the country due to its academic standards and campus. The campus consists of five buildings: Preschool, Elementary School, Middle School, High School and the Administration. It has five parking lots, three soccer fields, an Auditorium, four gyms, a Library, three Science labs, four computer labs, and a tennis court. All together it has 50.4 acres of land. Every classroom has air conditioning, a computer and some a smart board.
The school is surrounded by huge mountains, in fact, it is in a mountain. We have an incredibly huge amount of trees. It provides two entrances. In front of the Administration building, it has a long horizontal alley with around twenty flags of different countries and the School´s flag. With no doubt, E.I.S. has an amazing campus where all the students can find commodity, happiness, and conformity. Thanks to all of the student´s parents (SEIS) we can all take advantage of our education.

Everyone at E.I.S. is Reading Twilight
student at Escuela Internacional Sampedrana is reading the Stephanie Meyer’s best seller, Twilight. This is the first book of the collection. The sequels are New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Twilight is about a vampire name Edward Cullen that falls in love with a normal game named Bella. Most of the girls have fallen in love with Edward Cullen. They say that he is the perfect man for any girl. The most famous quote mentioned when talking about Twilight is “Only a vampire can love you forever.” Most girls feel related to Bella. Their hearts get broken in some love scenes since it is very intense. Many girls even cry when reading Twilight. Since it is a love story, mostly girls are the readers. However, the boys at school have also felt intrigued in reading it. They have loved it too!

Girls AASCA Basketball Tournament 2008
During October 2008, EIS received teams from all of Central America. There about five schools participating. Each school had male and female representatives. It was a very difficult and competitive tournament. Teams demonstrated their capacity and how hard they had worked during two long months to conquer the first place trophy. Definitely the best teams in the tournament were from Honduras; both the American School of Tegucigalpa (AST) and Escuela Internacional Sampedrana (EIS) did an excellent job throughout the games. But only one could go home as the AASCA champions. The entire EIS student body was able to see the first game that he girls played. The girls’ team did an amazing job. They played great game and as a result they won with a big difference against the visiting team. We were all very excited because it seemed that this was going to be the year in which EIS was going to achieve another first place trophy in the female section. That same say the girls’ team had another game in the afternoon against our sports nemesis: The American School of Tegucigalpa. You could feel the tension in the air; the anxiety grew as the time for the game got closer. The players seemed confident but somewhat nervous. The time for the game had come. Unfortunately the team could not defeat the AST girls’ team. Honestly every time one of our teams looses against this schools we all feel really down. But it was only one game if the girls won the rest of the games they still had a chance to go to the finals.The girls’ team did ever thing to get to the final; which they did. The thrill of being on a final was transmitted from student-to-student. Everyone was really excited and, I guess, we all thought that we had the championship in our hands, but we forgot that we had to play again against AST. It was a Saturday afternoon and the girls’ final was about to begin. The Cafetorium transformed completely and it was full of cheerful students. The student body showed a lot of school spirit and they cheered for the girls all throughout the game. It was an intense and hard game. Since the beginning of the game AST demonstrated that they wanted to win, but the EIS girls showed the same emotion and they were having a great game. At the end it was not enough for our team. AST had won once again. Although the girls’ showed enthusiasm and they wanted to win the other team made more baskets and the time ran out. We have all seen that this basketball team has a great future ahead of them. They are a young team and with some more practice they can do a lot for the school. We are all proud of them and we care for the them and hope that someday they will become the AASCA champions and also the national champions.

Presidential Classroom 2008
In summer 2008, a group of the Escuela Internacional Sampedrana assisted the wonderful Presidential Classroom Program intended to form the leaders of the future. This program takes place several times a year, but Mrs. Panting, the organizer, chose July because the weather is similar to Honduras. It took place in Georgetown Conference Center at Washington D.C., United States. E.I.S.’s students left San Pedro Sula on the morning of July 19 and arrived Washington D.C in the afternoon. They were all anxious and happy for meeting new people.
After picking up their baggage they were taken into the Georgetown Conference Center, where Presidential Classroom staff was waiting for them. There they would pick up their room key and find out with who they will share rooms.
The Program started on Sunday, with the welcome speech by the director of Presidential Classroom. It was followed by presentations done by students from all around the world, in which they introduced their country. Afterwards, approximately the four-hundred students attending were divided into delegations and working groups. These working groups worked the entire week formulating a project on peacekeeping, wars, hunger, ecology, energy and education. The projects were presented on Friday, with the corresponding objectives, plans, and conclusions.
Many historical sites were visited by the students. Some of them included the Union Station, The Capitol, the White House, Lincoln’s memorial, Jefferson’s memorial, the Korean War memorial, the Holocaust Museum, the Air and Space Museum, World Bank, United States Department of State and the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives among others.
Seminars included speeches of relevant people in history. The most memorable speech was the one given by a Holocaust survivor. This lady told the students everything she lived during that time and how she managed to survive. Other speeches were given by congressmen, President of the World Bank, the Vice president of the United Nations Organization.
This experience was unforgettable for each and every student who assisted the Presidential Classroom Program, due to the fact that they grew as a person, learn, and made new friends from other parts of the world.

Senior Entrance 2008/2009
August 20, 2008. This date is a very special date for this year’s seniors of Escuela Internacional Sampedrana. Is the day when the journey for a senior began. In other words the beginning of a bright future and their last year of high school. Students who saw the senior entrance described it as amazing and a great entrance!
Students liked how the seniors made their entrance but what few knew is the fact that these seniors were so sleepy from the party they had last night. The day before classes the seniors had a party and the majority of them didn’t sleep at all; if they went to sleep it was for an hour or less. Some students were commenting that their favorite part of the entrance was the officers that were in the path and when they threw confetti at the seniors. Students said that they also liked the banner which the seniors passed by when they entered to school campus. Another group of students said they liked the shirts colors, images, and the quote.
First the students got together at the gas station Esso that located near the school. There were fire trucks, police cars, four-wheelers, Rapiditos, Pepsi trucks, mulitas, and others. Students who were riding in the four wheelers made great tricks and they impressed the students that were watching the senior entrance. Talking to some seniors they said they liked their senior entrance and it’s a memory they will always have in their minds.
We had the opportunity to talk to some seniors and they told us many details about their senior and what they have done so far. They told us that although they didn’t sleep at all they had a lot of fun in their entrance and they would repeat again. One of the questions we asked were if they had fun in their party and their entrance and they immediately answered yes and it’s a memory they will never forget. One senior said that so far she likes the beginning of her senior year but she says that by the other hand she feels sad because it’s her last year with her friends and soccer tournament. She said she hopes that she wins this year’s tournament and wishes the best to all her classmates. Another senior said that he felt so tired and so sleepy that his plan is to sleep in all classes. To show us how tired he was he took off his sunglasses and we could see that his eyes were about to close. This senior was really sleepy but he said that this day is so special that he couldn’t miss it at all because something like this doesn’t repeat every day; it’s just once in a lifetime. The majority of the seniors said that they’re sleepy and as soon as they get home they will go to sleep and have lunch. We wish the seniors ’09 a good year and good luck in reaching all their goals!
