Euthanasia

For those who do not know, Euthanasia is when a doctor ends a patient’s life in a painless way. Euthanasia comes from the Greek “eu” and “thanatos”. “Eu” means good and “thanatos” means death. So Euthanasia means good death, painless death. Euthanasia is practiced in many cases around the world. A scenario is when a patient is in a coma; and his or hers possibilities from waking up from the coma are minimum; instead of suffering a horrible death the doctor, with his or hers family’s consent can practice Euthanasia and end the suffering patient’s life with no pain. Some people think debate whether or not should we practice euthanasia. Many people are not in favor of Euthanasia and argument that Euthanasia is a gateway to legalizing murder. The fact is that many countries all ready have legalized Euthanasia. Some of those countries Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Switzerland, the U.S. states of Oregon and Washington. These countries are fine with Euthanasia. I personally think Euthanasia is morally acceptable and that we should do it. It should be legal in every country of the world. There is a key term in philosophy that is Autonomy. Autonomy means that a person has the choice to do whatever he likes with his life. So a person has the right, the free will, to do whatever he likes. If the patient wants to end his life, instead of suffering a horrible death, instead of his family members suffering and living in depression, instead of wasting a lot of money, instead of occupying a room in a hospital that can be used by someone who have chances to get better, the patient can terminate his life and a painless way. Euthanasia should be legal in every country of the world. We can prevent suffering of patients and family members by legalizing euthanasia and having the option for patients that have a fatal disease and have minimum chances of living.
